Resistance of selected egg plant cultivars and related wild Solanum species to bacterial wilt (Pseudomonas solanacearum)

Among the varieties tested, Dingaras Multiple Purple (from India) and Aubergine (from the USA) had higher resistance than Taiwan Naga, one of the most resistant varieties grown in Japan. Similar resistance to that of Taiwan Naga was shown by 1 (from Borneo) and Sinampiro, Makiling and Mayon (from the Philippines). Among the wild Solanum species, S. toxicarium showed the highest resistance. S. nigrum and S. sisymbriifolium were more resistant than Taiwan Naga.
