Resistance to Phytophthora capsici in pepper. VII. Protection of foliar organs after being cultured on a filtrate of the parasite. Characterizing the conditions for the expression of the phenomenon

Annales de Phytopathologie 12(2): 95-107

The lower surfaces of excised leaves and cotyledons of Yolo Wonder and Phyo 636, respectively susceptible and resistant to Ph. capsici, were placed in contact with a culture filtrate of Ph. capsici for 24 h; the leaves and cotyledons were then inoculated and compared with controls which had not been previously cultured with the filtrate. Both varieties showed greater resistance when they had been cultured on the filtrate than when they had not.
