In several tests, the annual glandular-haired tetraploids Medicago rugosa and M. scutellata and diploids M. blancheana and M. disciformis, and the perennial glandular-haired diploid M. prostata, were more resistant to Hypera postica than M. sativa. In laboratory tests H. postica caused less damage to plants of M. sativa 'San Pedro' with a high density of simple hairs than to those with a low density of hairs.
