Results of aerial treatments with Dimilin and Bacillus thuringiensis for gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar (L.)) control in Quebec

Results of aerial treatments with Dimilin and Bacillus thuringiensis for gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar (L.)) control in Quebec

Canadian Forestry Service Research Notes 2(3): 18-20

In trials on mixed forests in Quebec in 1977-79, formulations of Bacillus thuringiensis (as 25 and 50% Thuricide 32B with sorbitol, water, chitinase and a sticker) were applied twice from an aircraft at 9.36 litres/ha against Lymantria dispar (L.); in further trials, diflubenzuron was applied once (as Dimilin 25W at 4.68 litres/ha). Both insecticides were effective in controlling the lymantriid and protecting foliage.
