Results of two trials concerning replacement of barley by cassava in feeding of bacon pigs

Results of two trials concerning replacement of barley by cassava in feeding of bacon pigs

Journees de la Recherche Porcine en France: 265-272

In the first trial a total of 90 Large White pigs weighing 35 kg were given a control diet of maize, barley and soya or diets with 15 or 30% cassava replacing barley, with soya increased to maintain the protein content. Up to slaughter at 100 kg, average daily gains, efficiency of feed conversion and dressing percentage were similar for all groups. Pigs given cassava were leaner, but this was attributed to their diets having slightly more lysine.
