Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn root rot of bean, soybean and adzuki bean seedlings

Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn root rot of bean, soybean and adzuki bean seedlings

Memoirs of the Faculty of Agriculture Hokkaido University 12(4): 262-269

Isolates of R. solani from plants with necrotic lesions at the Univ. farm in Sapporo, Japan, reproduced field symptoms on inoculation. The most frequent isolates belonged to anastomosis group AG-1 and were most pathogenic to bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) and adzuki bean seedlings, while the less frequent isolates of groups AG-4 and 5 were more pathogenic to soybean. All 3 groups were recovered from plant debris, and from flax stem bait incubated in the soil.
