Abstract
The study presents the results of a group discussion and of a survey of a representative sample of 1031 wives of part-time farmers in the GFR. It covers demographic and family data; size, volume of production and technical equipment and returns of the part-time farm; past and intended changes in the part-time farm; housing and health conditions; work situation in the home and on the farm; contributions to or benefits from the provisions for farmer parents; attitudes and motivation as regards farm and non-farm employment; social influences; contacts and engagements of the wives and their husbands; general satisfaction with their way of life; attitude to part-time farming; and discussion on changes.
