Larvae of Phylacteophaga froggatti Riek mine the upper surface of the leaves of Eucalyptus spp. in Australia, and all the early stages in the life-history are passed inside the leaf. The biology of the pergid is described from observations on E. botryoides at Bundoora, near Melbourne, Victoria, in 1977-78. There were 4 feeding instars in the male and 5 in the female, followed by a non-feeding prepupa in both sexes.
