The results are reported of studies in 1975--78 in orchards and vineyards in northern Italy on the effectiveness of various types of sex pheromone traps for monitoring Cydia pomonella (L.) on apple, C. molesta (Busck) on peach and Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiff.) and Eupoecilia ambiguella (Hb.) on grapevines. The most effective traps for monitoring C. pomonella were Havana brown in colour and baited with rubber septa impregnated with (8E,10E)-8,10-dodecadien-1-ol.
