Studies on Azotobacter chroococcum. II. Effect of Azotobacter chroococcum on germination of seeds of agricultural crops

The effect of strains of Azotobacter chroococcum on the germination of cotton, wheat and maize seeds was studied under three different conditions. The stimulatory effect of A. chroococcum varied with the strain and with germination conditions. Wheat and cotton seed germination was better in sterile petri-plates, but large seeds (maize) showed better germination in sterile sand cultures.
