Studies on the catabolism and distribution of fibrinogen in rats. Application of the iodogen (R) labelling technique

The iodogen (R) labelling method was applied to rat fibrinogen. Catabolism and body distributions of fibrinogen in the rat were studied with fibrinogen labelled with 0.5 iodine atoms incorporated/mol fibrinogen and biologically screened for 48 h. Of fibrinogen body pool 77% seemed to be localized intravascularly and had a plasma half-life of 23 h. The fractional catabolic rate was 0.96 daily in steady-state conditions.
