Studies on the humus forms of forest soils. VIII. Effect of the addition of ammonium sulfate on mineralization of nitrogen in forest soils

Studies on the humus forms of forest soils. VIII. Effect of the addition of ammonium sulfate on mineralization of nitrogen in forest soils

Soil Science and Plant Nutrition 25(4): 601-609

Brown forest soil samples were incubated for 20 weeks with 10 mg N/100 g dry matter as ammonium sulfate. In L layer samples, added N initially reduced ammonification and accelerated N immobilization but subsequently accelerated ammonification. In F-H-A layers the effect of the treatment differed among different soil types.
