The A and B serotype of Candida albicans. Antigenic pattern and pathogenic activity

The A and B serotype of Candida albicans. Antigenic pattern and pathogenic activity

Sexuality and pathogenicity of fungi: 210-223

Immunodiffusion tests with extracts of A and B strs. were carried out in an attempt to determine the specific antigens of serotype A. Results indicated a more complicated structure for A than for B strs. Pathogenicity was studied by intravenous injection of mice and intracutaneous and intravenous injection of guinea pigs. The B str. used showed a lower local aggression for tissue than did the A str.
