The conditions of phytomass production and energy utilization in Festuco vaginatae-Corynephoretum meadows of acidic sandy soil in the internal part of the county of Somogy (SW Hungary), I

The production of aboveground and underground phytomass and changes in soil organic matter content in Festuco vaginatae-Corynephoretum meadows on acid sandy soils in south west Hungary were studied by analysis of soil monoliths and associated vegetation. The soil organic matter content was 0.4-0.6%. The humus made up 50% of the total organic matter of the monolith, and reached a maximum in August.
