The control of mass outbreaks of Lymantria monacha in Poland

The control of mass outbreaks of Lymantria monacha in Poland

Allgemeine Forstzeitschrift (3): 82-83

Mass outbreaks (of increasing intensity) have occurred at 6-7 yr intervals since 1946, most recently in 1978 (Bialystok region). The pest is most common in the Pomerellen region (north-central Poland) and central Silesia, least common in eastern Poland. In 1980, a control monitoring programme was initiated involving aerial spraying of various agents including Ambush (pyrethrins); preliminary results are reported.
