The control of mites in cheese stores

Recent advances in acarology Vol I: 221-229

Species of cheese mites, isolated from Cheddar, Cheshire and Stilton cheese stores, were: Acarus chaetoxysilos, A. siro, A. farris, A. immobilis, Tyrophagus longior, T. palmarum, T. putrescentiae, Tyrolichus casei, Glycyphagus domesticus, G. destructor and Tydeus sp. The most common sp. was A. chaetoxysilos, which was present almost exclusively in all Stilton cheese stores. With the development of resistance of mites to lindane, other treatments with acaricides have been studied.
