The effect of Cryptocotyle concavum metacercariae on the lipid content of the tissue of Gobius melanostomus

The lipid content of the muscle and liver of Gobius melanostomus infected with Cryptocotyle concavum in the Black Sea, USSR, was studied. Total lipids were reduced by intense infection to 0.7 plus or minus 0.09% dry weight in the muscle and 21.7 plus or minus 1.7% in the liver in comparison to fish infected with 5 to 20 parasites for which these values were respectively 1.0 plus or minus 0.01% and 30.8 plus or minus 1.0%.
