An account is given of these marine shell soils and the growth conditions in the coastal strip of the Taganrog Gulf and the Sea of Azov, and of experience in the establishment of amenity plantings. Data are presented on the ht. and increment up to 30 yr old of Elaeagnus angustifolia, Morus alba, Ailanthus altissima, Robinia pseudoacacia, Salix alba, Populus X canadensis aggr. P. alba, P. nigra var. italica and Prunus armeniaca.
