The production potential of the Eastern Cape valley bushveld

The production potential of the Eastern Cape valley bushveld

Proceedings of the Grassland Society of Southern Africa 14: 115-117

The valley bushveld had an accumulated fodder reserve of which only a small percentage was really available to the grazing animal for production purposes. Results indicated that to increase the production potential of browse, any utilization programme should be constructed around long rest periods. However, grasses made an important contribution to the utilizable material and played an important role with regard to livestock nutrition.
