The resistance of some rice varieties to damage by Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky during storage

The resistance of some rice varieties to damage by Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky during storage

Tropical Stored Products Information 43: 10-15

During a laboratory study in Nigerian on the resistance of some rice varieties to damage by Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. during storage, milled and unmilled samples of 13 rice varieties were infested for 7 days with 4 males and 8 females of the pest, all of which were 7--14 days old, at 27--30 deg C and 60% RH. The varieties were chosen for high yield, resistance to field pests or early maturity. Varieties with perfect husks were generally most resistant to the pest.
