The susceptibility of the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), to Heterorhabditis heliothidis (Nematoda: Heterorhabditidae) in the laboratory

The susceptibility of the spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), to Heterorhabditis heliothidis (Nematoda: Heterorhabditidae) in the laboratory

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 605: 958-961

The exposure of 4th--6th-instar larvae of Choristoneura fumiferana (Clem.) to Heterorhabditis heliothidis in the laboratory in Canada at 120 nematodes/larva resulted in 100% mortality in 48 h at 24 plus or minus 1 deg C. At 17 deg C, 100% mortality was achieved in 120 h. Reduction of the dose to 15 nematodes/5th--6th-instar larva caused 70 and 15% mortality at the 2 temperatures, respectively, in 120 h.
