Four male zebu cattle with a rumen cannula were given molasses with 2.5% urea to appetite and 8 kg cassava forage daily. The forage was withdrawn for the last 6 days of the experiment, rumen volume was measured using polyethylene glycol and rumen samples were taken on each of the 6 days. The thiaminase activity of the rumen fluid did not change significantly after the forage was withdrawn.
