Tolerance to white mold (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) De Bary) in Ex Rico 23, a cultivar of white bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Ex Rico 23 showed tolerance in variety trials from 1978 to 1980. At Mitchell, Ontario, where disease incidence was high, Ex Rico 23 had significantly lower infection and higher yield than three recommended cultivars (Fleetwood, Kentwood and Seafarer). Disease incidence was consistently lower and rate of disease development was slower in Ex Rico 23 than in Fleetwood in small-plot and large-scale plantings at Mitchell in 1980.
