P. ginseng samples were irradiated with 1.6-MeV protons in a scattering chamber and the X-rays were detected by a Si(Li) detector. Target preparation involved freeze-drying of a ginseng extract, low-temperature ashing for five days, and dissolution in dilute HNO3.
