24 heifers were allotted to 3 groups, each of 8 heifers, animals in the last 2 groups being implanted in the ear with 300 mg trenbolone acetate for 99 or 62 days (designated the short- and long-term groups resp.). The 1st group was untreated (control). Four heifers in each group were subjected to liver and fat biopsy 60 days after initiation of the experiment. At slaughter, which occurred 15 days after retrieval of the implant, liver and fat samples were also collected.
