Unloading systems for tower silos

Unloading systems for tower silos

Landbauforschung Volkenrode 31(3): 159-162

The process of bottom unloading of a tower silo was analyzed with the aid of wall pressure measurements, power consumption checks and a television camera. An important cause of failures proved to be the ring of silage remaining at the base of the walls. A build up of material can form above this preventing complete emptying.
