Freeze-dried biomass of the alga Scenedesmus acutus had crude protein 53.8, lipids 11.7, sugars 24.5%, net energy 5658 kcal/kg DM, and a wide range of vitamins. From 30 to 67 days old, 2 groups of 13 New Zealand White rabbits were given a stock diet without or with the freeze dried alga 12%, completely replacing soya bean oilmeal. Digestibility of all nutrients except ether extract was lower for the diet with alga than for the control diet.
