Variability and heritability of economically useful traits in varieties of Vicia sativa

Variability and heritability of economically useful traits in varieties of Vicia sativa

Sb tr NIISKh tsentr r nov Nechernozemn zony (47): 152-157

Characters not related to duration of the growth period were number of branches, number of leaves and 1000-seed weight; early ripening could therefore be combined with high seed yield and adequate green matter. The least variable characters were duration of the emergence-flowering period, number of leaflet pairs, pod length and width, and number of internodes up to the first pod. Number of seeds per pod and number of branches were highly variable.
