Variability and inter-relationships between yield and yield components in potato

The variability and genetic parameters for total yield/plant, number of tubers/plant, av. tuber wt., plant ht., number of stems/hill and final plant stand of 81 genotypes of potato were studied in 1978-9 at Hissar. There was a wide range of variation for all the characters. The max. CV was recorded for number of tubers/plant followed by yield/plant. Plant ht. and final plant stand showed the highest and av. tuber wt. the lowest genotypic and phenotypic variances.
