Variability in bacterial wilt resistance and interrelationships of some characteristics of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)

Twenty-seven varieties were studied in the field for resistance to Pseudomonas solanacearum under natural conditions and for 13 characters including fruit size and yield, and in the greenhouse for resistance using artificial inoculation. Percentage survival in the field was higher than that in the greenhouse and was correlated with it. Ten varieties had survival rates in the greenhouse of 70% or better; four of these were high yielding.
