Variability in hull content, kernel oil content, and whole seed oil content of sunflower hybrids and parental lines

Variability in hull content, kernel oil content, and whole seed oil content of sunflower hybrids and parental lines

Canadian Journal of Plant Science 62(1): 51-54

Among the 35 hybrids and seven parental lines studied, husk percentage in the hybrids ranged from 21.6 to 28.2% and oil content from 59.8 to 64.6% and from 42.5 to 50.3% in the seed and achene, respectively. The husk percentage was negatively correlated with both seed and achene oil contents and with 1000-achene weight. Seed oil content was positively correlated with achene oil content.
