Variability in the bacteria hafnia and Shigella when mixed with various honeys and a meat-peptone broth

Variability in the bacteria hafnia and Shigella when mixed with various honeys and a meat-peptone broth

Bor' ba s boleznyami pchel na dal' nem vostoke: 54-59

The bacteria described in the previous abstract were cultured on meat-peptone agar and in 3 samples of honey (multifloral, lime, buckwheat). The effects of culturing were compared using bacteriological media, and serologically. All strains grew on a potato medium, and none liquefied gelatine. The human strain of E. hafnia and one strain of Shigella did not curdle milk when grown on lime honey, but they did when grown on multifloral and buckwheat honeys.
