Aleurone thickness was measured in grains from crosses between the maize population Coroico, with multilayer aleurone, and three opaque-2 inbreds. In grains with a single aleurone layer, thickness ranged from 50 to 100 mu , with the 60-70 mu class being most frequent (28.4%). In grains with multilayer aleurone, layer thickness ranged from 50 to 120 mu , with the 80-90 mu class being most frequent (28.87%).
