In all the F1 populations obtained by crossing Atlas 66 reciprocally with three high-yielding Soviet varieties, heterosis (relative to the better parent) for aminoacid content of the grain occurred in all three successive years of the investigation, ranging between 1.4% and 32.1%. The aminoacids most frequently affected were serine, glutamic acid, valine, tyrosine and threonine.
