Variability studies in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

For plant height, length of main fruiting branch, number of pods on main fruiting branch, number of fruiting branches per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and per plant, 100-seed weight and yield, genotypic and phenotypic variance was higher in three-way crosses than in single crosses. Estimates of narrow and broad-sense heritability for these characters ranged from negligible to 18.64% and from 4.47 to 91.05%, respectively.
