Variation in nitrate reductase activity and its relationship to protein production in B. napus

Variation in nitrate reductase activity and its relationship to protein production in B. napus

Proceedings of the 5th International Rapeseed Conference Volume 2: 45-47

A rapid laboratory in vivo assay for nitrate reductase activity (NRA), using leaf discs in an incubation medium containing nitrate, phosphate buffer and surfactant and measuring the nitrite developed in the dark at 33 deg C after 1 h by spectrophotometry, was used to assess possible relationships between NRA, protein production and N assimilation and the genetic variation between 27 Brassica napus in these properties.
