Seed of Lupinus angustifolius and L. albus and wheat grain were sampled from 23 sites in the 3 rainfall categories > 450 mm, 325-450 mm and < 325 mm with infertile sands, sandy loams, sand over clay and alkaline soil. Variation in nutrient conc. was large between all categories but Se tended to be lower in seed and grain from the > 450 mm rain zone. Lupin seed contained higher conc. of N, S, Se, Cu, and Zn than wheat. Mn conc. varied between sites.
