Variation in reproductive organs of rice with reference to male incompatibility index

Variation in reproductive organs of rice with reference to male incompatibility index

Indian Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding 40(1): 262-271

On the basis of screening 5669 cultivars, 1145 F1 hybrids and eight wild species, 12 cultivars with large anthers, another 13 with large stigmas and a further 25 with small anthers but large stigmas were chosen, all from the north-east Indian rice collection. The three sets were grown at four sites over four seasons. Anther size and stigmatic surface area were inversely related.
