Variation in several egg characteristics dependent on the age of the hen

Variation in several egg characteristics dependent on the age of the hen

Avicoltura 48(5): 29-31

Ten eggs were collected on the same day from each of 3 groups of Hubbard Golden Comet layers, aged 41, 69 and 79 wk of age. In the 3 groups, egg weight averaged 61.8, 67.7 and 70.3 g resp., egg-shell thickness 362, 357 and 350 mu m, egg-shell phosphorus content 0.67, 0.79 and 0.90 mg/g, and egg-shell magnesium 3.9, 4.0 and 4.6 mg/g.
