The coefficient of correlation between stem length and ear length was highest (r = 0.45) in Odessa 51 X Rusalka and lowest (r = 0.31) in Dneprovskaya 775 X KMB. The shortest hybrids had the closest correlation between stem length and 1000-grain weight (r = 0.66-0.77 in crosses between two short parents but r = 0.32-0.47 in crosses between a short and a moderately tall variety).
