Varietal differences in tree size and yield of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) in Nigeria

Varietal differences in tree size and yield of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) in Nigeria

Journal of Plantation Crops 9(2): 77-83

Trees on one plot in western and one plot in eastern Nigeria were divided into the following four varieties and two subvarieties on the basis of pseudofruit (receptacle) colour (red vs. yellow) and pseudofruit shape (round vs. elongated): Red Round (RR), Red Elongated, Yellow Round (YR) and Yellow Elongated; and subvarieties Light Yellow Round and Light Yellow Elongated. Variation for tree size was narrower than that for yield. Varieties differed greatly in yield, which also depended on site.
