Varietal reaction to powdery mildew (Erysiphe cichoracearum D.C.) in okra

Varietal reaction to powdery mildew (Erysiphe cichoracearum D.C.) in okra

Vegetable Science 6(2): 126-129

Resistance to E. cichoracearum was evaluated in 36 okra cvs and the data are tabulated. No immune or highly resistant cvs were noted. The moderately resistant cvs showing 11-25% infection were AE-37, AE-52, AE-79, BH-102, Clemson Spineless, Early Long Green, Long Green, Red Bhendi, and Vaishali Vadhu. The last named was also noted for relatively high yields (3416 kg/ha). Data are presented on the reactions of 36 okra cvs. to the pathogen.
