Varietal resistance and possible components of horizontal resistance to blast

Varietal resistance and possible components of horizontal resistance to blast

International Rice Research Newsletter 4(5): 9-10

The reactions of 5 rice cvs. to 2 Pyricularia oryzae isolates are presented. The results indicated that the number and size of lesions may be components of horizontal resistance to the disease but that sporulation capacity, which is a reproductive function of the pathogen, is not.
