Varietal screening in ginger

Twenty five ginger cvs were screened for yield and quality (drying percentage and oleoresin, oil and crude fibre contents). Nadia gave the highest yield (28 553.8 kg/ha) of green ginger followed by Maran (25 210 kg/ha), Bajpai (23 585 kg/ha) and Narasapattom (23 536.4 kg/ha). Rio-de-Janeiro and Maran had the highest oleoresin contents of 10.53 and 10.05%, respectively. The highest oil content (2.4%) was in Karakal.
