Varietal susceptibility of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) to jassid (Amrasca biguttula biguttula Ishida)

Laboratory and field studies were carried out in Maharashtra, India, to determine the relative resistance of 10 varieties of eggplant (brinjal) to attack by Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Shir.). The lowest pest populations were observed on Mukta Koshi, Pusa Purple round, Round green and Kalyanpur T3, which had the greatest hair densities and lengths. The average number of jassid nymphs/5 plants was assessed at 30-105 days after transplanting 10 eggplant cvs.
