Various substrates for cultivation of cyclamen and chrysanthemums

Various substrates for cultivation of cyclamen and chrysanthemums

Deutscher Gartenbau 36(15): 666-669

Cyclamen, cvs Rosa von Zehlendorf and Harting Dunkellachs, and chrysanthemum, cvs Maximo P, Princess Anne and Ackermann P, were grown in pots in 9 substrates. Biostrat (based on composted bark) + 1.5 g additional mineral fertilizer/l proved the best for cyclamen, producing the largest plants with the most flowers, 11 and 12/plant for the 2 cvs, respectively, compared with 3 and 5/plant, respectively, in peat substrates.
