A general soil volume change equation: I. The two-parameter model

A physically based equation containing two adjustable parameters (the slope of the load line and the air-entry water content) is proposed to describe the volume of a swelling soil as a function of its water content. This equation gave an excellent representation of 18 sets of soil volume change data for both laboratory and field measurements.
