A general soil volume change equation: II. Effect of load pressure

A two-parameter model of soil volume change is extended to account for the load pressure effects expected in the upper 2 m of a soil profile. The extended model equation is based on two principal assumptions: (i) that only the dry soil pore volume and the air-entry water content are affected significantly by changes in load pressure, and (ii) that changes in the dry soil pore volume with load pressure are proportional.
