A greater potential for low-quality conserved forage

A greater potential for low-quality conserved forage

Fifty fifth Annual Report, 1981-1982, of The Agricultural Research Institute of Northern Ireland: 13-22

Conserved forage production in Northern Ireland in 1980 comprised grass silage (960 X 103 t DM), grass hay (463 X 103 t DM) and cereal straw (103 X 103 t DM). Gross energy contents were similar and within the range 17.6-18.4 MJ/kg, while metabolizable energy contents were more varied due to differences in digestibility.
