A look at hepatic diseases in the Congo

Afrique Medicale 20(190): 279-284

Liver diseases accounted for 5.5% of the total number of patients admitted to the Brazzaville General Hospital, Congo, from 1974 to 1977. Of the 256 hepatic patients seen in one year 53 (20.7%) had amoebic hepatitis. Patients with amoebic hepatitis were usually young (mean age 26 years) and male.
